Privacy Policy
EdgeReset Console is a B2B field-technician tool from ComNet. It helps technicians inventory EdgeReset media converters and send reset commands through a customer-site EdgeReset Gateway. This notice explains what the Console stores, what it sends to a paired Gateway, and what it does not collect.
Who this covers
- The website at console.comnet-edgereset.com
- The native EdgeReset Console applications
Each customer site also runs its own Gateway on a Windows PC. That Gateway has its own admin pages and is the source of truth for that site’s device list. This policy is for the Console clients, not for every page on a customer’s Gateway PC.
What the Console stores
After you use the product, the Console may keep the following on the phone, computer, or browser you are using:
- Site Gateway URLs, display names, and pairing tokens
- A label for this phone or PC (shown on the Gateway so the site can see which client connected)
- Device records: product model, serial number / MAC, optional name, location text, notes, endpoint IP, and manufacturing fields from the device QR
- Device reset passwords (the Product P/W / SecureON value used to send a reset)
- Optional install photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or BMP; up to 12 per device)
- Backup or export files you choose to create
Location fields are typed site notes (for example a closet or rack name). The Console does not use GPS or device location services. Camera access is used only to scan QR codes on device labels and Gateway pairing screens.
Where it is stored
Native apps. Settings and pairing tokens are stored in the platform secure store (Keychain / equivalent). The device list is stored in an on-device SQLCipher database. Photos are stored in the app’s private data folder.
Website. Devices, photos, and settings are stored locally in this browser (IndexedDB). Clearing site data, using a private window, or switching browsers starts a fresh local copy.
The Console does not create a ComNet cloud account and does not upload your inventory to a ComNet user database.
What is sent to a Gateway
When you pair and sync, the Console sends device records, optional photos, and the phone/PC label to the customer Gateway you chose, so that site can keep the official inventory and send Wake-on-LAN reset packets on the LAN (UDP ports 7 or 9).
How that traffic travels:
- Remote or on-site access: HTTPS to that site’s Gateway hostname (typically
https://gateway-<site_id>.comnet-edgereset.com) - Local access: HTTP on the site LAN to the Gateway’s listen address
Remote hostnames are provisioned for the customer site. Infrastructure providers that terminate TLS (for example Cloudflare) may process connection metadata. They are not given a Console login, and ComNet does not sell Console data or use it for advertising.
What we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, or tracking pixels
- No data used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites
- No public social feed or public user-generated content
- No payment card data and no in-app store account
How to delete data
- This device or browser: Settings → Delete All Data, or uninstall the app / clear the website’s site data
- One Gateway pairing: remove that Gateway under Settings → Gateway Management (local copy only)
- The site inventory: delete devices on the Gateway admin Devices page. Removing a device in the Console hides it locally; it does not delete it on the Gateway
Children
EdgeReset Console is a professional installer tool. It is not directed at children.
